Help us give an used danish ambulance

a new life in Afrika?

We have started a fundraisin with the ultimate goal to buy a used Danish ambulance. Ambulix have offered a cheap ambulance that we can buy. The ambulence is fully equipped and lives up to Danish standards with defibrillator, spin board etc. We have been given some hospital equipment donated to the national HIV clinic.
The ambulance, hospital equipment and other donations will be droven down to Guinea-Bissau, where it will be donated to the National hospital; Hospital Nacional Simão Mendes (HNSM). We have send an official letter to the local authorities asking for expressions of necessity of implementation of the project and whether they are able to receive the ambulance. The project was met with open arms and we have prepared a plan for the best way to implement the donations as part of the emergency and ambulance services at HNSM.

There is a huge need for more qualified hospital equipment. We will work with expat doctors and local doctors to train the local nursing staff in the use of the ambulance and the equipment. Together we can improve the country's emergency and ambulance services and improve treatment options.

We need all the help we can get to reach the goal.
There must be collected at least 90.000 DKK to reach the finish. It is for the purchase of the ambulance and cost of transport and the training of nursing staff.
Should more money be collection, then the money will be used on new projects with charity work in Guinea-Bissau.

We hope you will help support our project :-)

LET'S

GIVE

I am a young man, who've spend the last 1½ years traveling in India, southeast Asia and eventually I ended up in West Africa. I have lived the last years in West Africa mainly in Guinea-Bissau. A country that I have a very special relationship with and who are my very dear. Guinea-Bissau is one of the world's poorest countries who suffer from unbearable high maternal and infant mortality, poor hospital equipment, changing corrupt governments and people show despite this incredible great vitality, friendliness and warmth that has infected me. I have lived side by side with the locals, learned the local language and formed friendships for life.
I myself have been involved in a road accident in Bissau and was in this context admitted to HNSM. I was then allowed to see and feel how it is to be injured and not having the necessarily treatment. I was a few days later transported back to Denmark to get treatment.
Motivated by the many good times I've had in the country and a great desire to help, I started an association with the ultimate goal to provide ambulance (s) and hospital equipment to Guinea-Bissau. I will drive the ambulance myself to Guinea-Bissau and hand it over to the hospital and make sure the nursing staff will be trained in using the equipment. I have great support from, among local authorities and the Danish broadcast doctors who also will assist and help.

Letter to the local authorities in Guinea-Bissau, recommendations and other documents can be found in Documents.

I really hope you will support my project or help share the message!

Sincerely
Kristian
